Chapter 5

“Welcome to the Tipsy Fae! May I take your order?”

NIKO FOUND HIMSELF stumbling into the bar, not out of any of his own clumsiness, but rather, because of his companion rushing in with full enthusiasm.

“Give me the best damn thing you’ve got and make it a double!”

Niko hissed at him. “We’re not here for pleasure Leo!”

“Business and pleasure can always go hand in hand.”

Niko’s shoulders dropped in defeat, his head swaying lethargically. In the five months since Leo had become his partner and friend, he knew that it was almost pointless at this point to change the blond boy’s ways.

He walked in, his comfortable “Epic Wolfskin Boots” of 475/475 Durability rating and +900 Defense making silent thump noises against the wooden floor, his eyes idly noting that the bar remained brightly lit, as what looked like lightbulbs, but were in fact, a specie of rare blue fireflies used as a light source in Meliora.

The rest sat in quiet corners, eyes shiftily scanning the room back and forth like the pendulum of fate, their mouths constantly obscured by their hands as they partook in information that was far too sensitive, and far too deadly to have anyone hear.

He paid very little heed to the oddities of the bar, even as he noticed with a small level of annoyance as to how several eyes turned in his direction, as though evaluating if the newcomer was a potential threat, target, or something more. Attention towards them was made worse by Leo’s springing gait, the enthusiastic blond utterly oblivious to the judging gazes. Niko’s gait however, displayed none of his unease as he moved, expertly, and as though he had done it a thousand times before, towards a seat at a secluded corner of the bar where a seven-foot tall, extremely bearded and hairy looking man welcomed them warmly.

“Niko! Leo! Thanks fer comin’ to see me!”

Niko sat. Beside him Leo sat, eagerly looking for a drink, as their guest chuckled at his enthusiasm. The player before them was Tom. He was rugged with a diamond face and a pointed chin, possessed thick brown short hair, and he belonged to the group of people in the bar partaking in discussion of sensitive information. Niko found that this did not stop him from
